John Randolph Medical Center Staff Celebrate Exceeding Quality Care GoalsHopewell, VA, June 24, 2009 - The employees of John Randolph Medical Center (JRMC) celebrated the surpassing of quality care goals at a record rate. These goals, called Core Measures by the Centers for Medicare Services, (CMS) are specific standards of care set up to measure the quality of care delivered to patients. JRMC set a new record of being in the green for an entire calendar year, meaning that the JRMC Core Measures were at or above the 90th percentile across the country. Ensuring that our patients receive excellent care is our first priority, said Patsy Coghill, Chief Nursing Officer at John Randolph Medical Center. A year in the green with CMS Core Measures is a reason to celebrate as a hospital because it demonstrates that our entire staff is committed to meeting the required standards of quality. In efforts to reach this goal, the Administration and Quality Management Department at JRMC has worked to increase staff and physician education in many areas of care. While the goal has always been to strive for excellence, various training programs were established to make sure these goals were met consistently through following best practices of clinical excellence. As a reward for the hard work and commitment of all staff to meet these goals, all employees were invited to a movie night out to see Imagine That starring Eddie Murphy at The Crossings Cinema on June 24th. Those staff scheduled to work during that time was given a movie ticket to use at another time. Media Contact:
